School Based Health Centers

Transforming places of learning into places of wellness

Making Schools a Place for Optimal Health

Every child deserves the best medical attention possible, no matter their location or circumstances. That means affordable, accessible, compassionate care for our community’s youngest members. Our School Based Health Centers are designed to do just that. Our primary mission is to assist eligible uninsured and underinsured children in acquiring comprehensive community based services to meet their physical, emotional, and social needs. Our centers offer these services to children who meet the following criteria:

  • Do not qualify for KidsCare or AHCCCS and have no medical insurance
  • Have applied for KidsCare or AHCCCS and are waiting to be notified
  • Are under 14 years old and/or currently attending 8th grade
  • Siblings of students attending school might be eligible for the program

Healthy Bodies for a Bright Future
Our centers strive to meet the needs of school-age children so they can look forward to bright, healthy futures. We do this by providing a full range of health care services, such as:

  • Primary medical care
  • Dental/oral health care
  • Health education and promotion
  • Access to laboratory and X-rays
  • Access to medications
  • Specialist office visits

Students can be treated for acute illnesses, such as flu, and chronic conditions, including asthma and diabetes. They can also be screened for dental, vision and hearing problems. With an emphasis on prevention, early intervention and risk reduction, our centers provide students and their family with referrals to community services they might not know exist.

All qualified children are eligible even if they do not attend the school where the health center is located. A payment may apply depending on your child’s financial eligibility. Get started today by working with our team to determine if your child is financially eligible.

Health tip

Not all juice is healthy

Most fruit drinks contain only 10% juice and 90% water and sugar, making them no healthier than soda pop.
